Discover our range of traditional pastas
Algeria is the only country in North Africa to boast a wide variety of traditional pasta dishes. This is a reflection of how diverse its food and culture are. Algerian traditional meals are symbolic of gathering, whether for a family event or a particular occasion like Mawlid, Eid, or Ramadan. They represent authenticity and the rediscovery of flavours that are dear to us. Short, long, fresh, or dried pastas, each variety offers a unique and distinct experience in terms of texture, taste, and possibilities.
Pasta from the Maghreb, notably Algerian pasta, comes in a variety of shapes due to historical, cultural, and practical influences. These unique shapes are the result of local traditions and manufacturing techniques passed down through generations. A certain shape may be connected to a specific geographic area or ethnic group, each with its own preferences regarding recipes and dish presentation. Chakhchoukha stands out for its unique blend of flavours, Rechta, the signature dish of Algerian pasta recipes, is recognized by the finesse and lightness of its pasta strips, served flavoured with a fragrant broth, vegetables and meat. Finally, Berkoukes, also known as Berkoukech, stands out with its large couscous-like grains.
